Building the new sea wall

This photo of the new sea wall was taken on the 17th July 1956. The man in the centre is Jimmy Lewey Patience and standing on the platform in the background is his youngest son James. Two hours after this photo was taken Jimmy Lewey heard that he had become a "bouba" for the first time with the birth that day of his grandaughter Lorna.
